History

ETM Mätteknik was founded in 1981 as a supplier of data logging products to the utility market and various other industries. Skanska, an international construction company, required the development of a solution for remote download of data. We designed and provided our first device for GSM data communication. This was the starting point of a new product range that has generated a volume of more than 200k delivered terminals so far.

Mile stones:

1994

ETM developed the first GSM communication device for Skanska based on a Nokia mobile cell phone and an interface for remote download of data.

1997

ETM supplied Siemens GSM terminals M1 to Vattenfall for the first massive roll out of power meters for the Swedish market.

2000

ETM developed the company’s first terminal ETM9000, based on Siemens M20 module, which was accepted by Vattenfall.

2002

ETM developed and supplied GSM terminal ETM9200, based on Siemens module TC35i. ETM developed and supplied the company’s first micro processor controlled GSM/GPRS terminal ETM9500, based on Siemens module TC35i. The terminal had a TCP/IP stack for GPRS communication.

2003

ETM9500 was supplied to Energex in Australia for the first pilot installation of 500 units to evaluate GPRS for meter reading.

2004

ETM9200 was supplied to Actaris for the first phase of the Vattenfall AMR project.

2005

ETM developed and supplied GSM/GPRS terminal ETM9300 and the micro processor controlled terminals ETM9550 and ETM9600, based on the MC39i module from Siemens.

2006

ETM developed and supplied the micro processor controlled GSM/GPRS terminal ETM9660, based on the MC39i module from Siemens ETM developed and supplied GSM Signal meter ETM760, a handheld battery powered device, which can be used to measure the signal strength for all operators covering a given point. ETM9300 was supplied to Telvent for the third phase of the Vattenfall AMR project. ETM9660 was supplied to the Norwegian grid operator Hafslund for control of loads in the power grid.

2007

ETM9800, ETM9900 and ETM9900J micro processor controlled 3-G terminals were initially developed for the Australian and Japanese markets, using the Siemens UMTS modules HC25 and HC28. ETM9300 was exported to Russia for AMM/AMR applications.

2008

ETM9560 GSM/GPRS micro processor controlled terminal with rechargeable battery has been developed for meters with low supply current capability. The battery backup can also be used to send alarms if power fails.

2011

Restucturing of the company with new owners.
